Jane B. par Agnès V. (1987)
Directed by Agnès Varda

Fantasy
aka: Jane B. for Agnes V.

Film Synopsis

Agnès Varda films Jane Birkin in a series of living tableaux to reveal the multiple facets of an actress of rare talent.  Jane plunders her dreams and her memories, drawing on her past and present, her family life, her life as an actress, aided an abetted by her imaginative director.  We see Jane in love with a thug played by Philippe Léotard.  Then Jane appears in a silent homage to Laurel and Hardy.  Then it is off for a picnic in the woods with Jean-Pierre Léaud.  Jane evokes her private life with Serge Gainsbourg and Alain Souchon.  Next, an African adventure with an explorer played by Farid Chopel.  Of course, there has to be a tribute to Marilyn Monroe, and who better to crack that whip as Calamity Jane...?
