Film Synopsis

After serving in World War II, Paul Sutton returns to his home in San Francisco and discovers that the magic has gone out of his marriage. Scarred by his wartime experiences, Paul wants to make a fresh start, but his wife Betty insists that he returns to his old job as a door-to-door salesman. One day, he gets to know a fellow train passenger, Victoria Aragon, who reveals that she is an unmarried student who has become pregnant by one of her professors. Paul offers to help her out by pretending to be her husband when she next visits her conservative family...
