Film Synopsis
Isa and François are a couple in their forties who appear to be quite
settled in their lives. They have been together for some time but recently
they feel as if they have become strangers. They no longer know how
to communicate with one another and they have become wrapped up in their
own private concerns, unsure where their lives are heading. François
is presently in the grip of a severe mid-life crisis and is constantly preoccupied
with death. Nothing seems to interest him any more, and the only person
he can confide in is his best friend Xavier. The latter does all that
he can to advise and encourage his friend, but in truth he is just as flummoxed
as François is about the whole business.
It would appear that something is driving François and Isa apart,
but the former has no idea what this could be. Isa shows no outward
signs of discontent, there are no rows or hysterics, but her partner instinctively
knows that their relationship has turned sour. In the end, François
comes to the conclusion that Isa must be having an affair. His suspicions
appear to be borne out when he sees her in the company of another man.
Naturally, François feels he is owed an explanation, so Isa willingly
provides him with one. How easily the lies trip off her lips!
She might almost have been rehearsing this scene for years. Her unsuspecting
partner has yet to see her hidden face...
