Drama
aka: The New Life of Paul Sneijder
Film Synopsis
In Montreal, Canadian businessman Paul Sneijder realises that he has arrived
at a turning point in his life. His daughter has recently died in a
terrible accident that very nearly cost him his own life. His mean,
money-obsessed wife urges him to put in an insurance claim, but he is reluctant
to profit financially from the death of the person who was nearest to him.
Instead, he decides to make some drastic changes to his life which he knows
his wife will not approve of. After a brief period of reflection, he
decides to give up his former job and make his living as a professional dog
walker. His wife is staggered...
Franz Kafka's letters to his fiancée Felice Bauer not only reveal a soul in torment; they also give us a harrowing self-portrait of a man appalled by his own existence.
