Le Farceur (1961)
Directed by Philippe de Broca

Comedy
aka: The Joker

Film Synopsis

The man who is nimbly scampering over the rooftops of Paris, pursued by an angry husband, is Edouard Berlon, an oversexed joker who just cannot help loving women and being loved in return.   He finds sanctuary at the home of his brother Guillaume, an artist who often employs Edouard as a model, along with most of the other members of his family.  The latter include: the philosophical Uncle Théodore; Pilou, Guillaume's sweet-natured wife; and Olga, the family maid.  Edouard's carefree Casanova existence could have carried on in this vein forever had he not met Hélène Laroche, a beautiful young woman who is unhappily married to a dull industrialist.  At first, Hélène believes that her amorous adventure with Edouard will be a short-lived affair that will do no harm to anyone.  How wrong she is...
