Short
aka: The Crimson Curtain
Film Synopsis
At the start of the 19th century, a young officer recently promoted to
a small garrison takes lodgings with a bourgeois family who are as dull
as they are quiet. One evening, there is a new face at the dinner
table, Albertine, his landlord's daughter. At first, the
attractive young woman appears indifferent to the officer, but she soon
begins to make subtle gestures to show that she is attracted to
him. They become lovers, although Albertine's parents suspect
nothing, as she keeps up the pretence that she has no interest in the
officer when she is in their sight...
Since the 1920s, Hollywood has dominated the film industry, but that doesn't mean American cinema is all bad - America has produced so many great films that you could never watch them all in one lifetime.
Continental Films, quality cinema under the Nazi Occupation
At the time of the Nazi Occupation of France during WWII, the German-run company Continental produced some of the finest films made in France in the 1940s.
