On a failli être amies (2014) Directed by Anne Le Ny
Comedy
Film Synopsis
Forty-something divorcee Marithé Bressy works as a careers adviser
at an adult education centre, freely dispensing help and encouragement to
others who are keen to change their jobs and discover their true vocation
in life. With redundancies in the region rife, she has no shortage
of attentive clients. These include Carole Drissi, the dutiful wife
of an extremely talented workaholic chef, Sam. It isn't a new profession
that Carole most craves, however, but a new partner. Marithé
gets to check out Sam for herself when she pays a visit to the gourmet restaurant
where he performs his culinary marvels.
Anxious to keep her private ambitions from her husband, Carole introduces
Marithé as one of the friends she has made at the local gym.
Marithé finds Sam's manly charms as hard to resist as his mouth-watering
cuisine, and so she soon finds herself in a very awkward position as she
tries to take charge of Carole's future. What she doesn't yet know
is that Carole is using her to conceal from her husband the fact that she
has a secret lover. The situation becomes even more complicated when
Sam sets about opening his second restaurant...

The best French Films of the 1920s
In the 1920s French cinema was at its most varied and stylish - witness the achievements of Abel Gance, Marcel L'Herbier, Jean Epstein and Jacques Feyder.
Since the 1920s, Hollywood has dominated the film industry, but that doesn't mean American cinema is all bad - America has produced so many great films that you could never watch them all in one lifetime.
