Film Synopsis
Hostilities between the three Caine brothers and the Rogers clan escalate
into a murderous feud when the former steal some horses belonging to the
latter. The Rogers repay their detested enemies by capturing one of
the brothers, Ben, and lynching him in front of his terrified wife Maria.
From this moment, Maria Caine has one thought: to avenge the death of her
husband. Without a moment's delay, she sets off for a nearby village
and enlists the help of Manuel, a cowboy who is used to his own company.
Maria knows that Manuel has loved her for years and will do anything for
her. Sure enough, the cowboy agrees to be a willing participant in
her determined vendetta. By coming to the aid of the Rogers brothers,
when they are menaced by three strangers, Manuel rapidly gains their confidence.
Manuel is soon working on the Rogers' vast ranch, a trusted and valued addition
to the family. One night, he sets free his employer's horses, and in
the commotion he takes Johanne, the younger sister of the Rogers brothers,
hostage. On the brothers' return to the ranch, Maria is waiting for
them and ready to make her demands. Johanne will only be released if
they agree to give her husband a proper funeral. The other two Caine
brothers, Thomas and Elie, make additional demands, insisting they will keep
Johanne a prisoner until the Rogers family hand over a large ransom.
This unexpected intervention ruins Marie's plan and she ends up being captured
by the Rogers brothers, who show her no mercy. Marie's death so enrages
Manuel that he goes after the Rogers, intent on wiping them all out...
