Film Synopsis

One evening, a man rings the doorbell of the Clos Fontaine orphanage.  The proprietor, Louberge, recognises him as Sauval, a lawyer who has made many donations to his school.  In fact, Sauval is a crook and a murderer who wants to hide in the orphanage so that he can evade capture from the police.  Knowing nothing of Sauval's criminal exploits, Louberge is proud to introduce him to his pupils.  One day, Sauval takes the children with him on a trip to Paris, but once there he contacts his mistress so that he can arrange to leave with her for a foreign country.  When she betrays him, Sauval just manages to avoid being caught by the police.  Back at Clos Fontaine, Sauvin decides to reveal everything to Louberge...
