Directed by Alexis Granowsky

Drama
aka: Taras Bulba

Film Synopsis

Taras Bulba leads his fellow Cossacks in a battle against the Poles who are occupying his region of Ukraine.  In this, he is assisted by his two sons, Ostap and Andriy.  Unfortunately, the latter's loyalties become divided when he falls in love with the daughter of the Polish governor.  In the course of a fierce attack on the citadel, Taras kills Andriy with a clear conscience before setting out to rescue his other son, who is being held prisoner by the Poles.  By exercising his cunning, Taras finds a way into the city in an attempt to save his son, but only narrowly escapes with his own life.  Undeterred by this latest setback, Taras continues fighting against the Poles, more than willing to sacrifice his own life to free his country from the tyranny of a foreign power...
